I of course have never researched a ladies bow. When my Wife said she wanted one, I was all over it!!! I hear most guys say they want to be away from their family when they hunt, but not me. Lookin at her is much easier on the eyes than some dude in camo. So the thought of her with me, up in a tree, bow in her hand. Wow... makes a man have to sit down for a while.
Anyways... I Just about ran the whole gamut of bow manufactures to find a bow that would fit her. She is not just real tall and has a smaller frame so not just any bow will work. I went through Bowtech, Diamond, Hoyt, PSE, Prime, and they all just seem to take a smaller frame bow or a kid’s bow and girlie it up a bit. I just don’t see the point. It wasn't until I came across the Mathews Jewel when I thought I finally found something. It actually looked like it was made for a woman. It has good speed, a shorter axel to axel length, decent brace height, all in all a good looking bow. It also has reverse roller assist, which is supposed to help with the draw. I guess it works...
We decided to head down to a local Mathews dealer and try a few different bows including a Mission they recommended, it just wasn't it. We did go down there to try the Jewel but with the price and this being her first bow. We just weren’t sure we should go ahead and spend that much money on something she may not like. Well... she shot it, shot it again, then turned and looked at me. I knew by the look in her eye we weren’t going to walk out of there without it. But you know her holding that bow made me a little weak in the knees.
She got the black one!!! It does have a pink strip down the center of the handle and a pink peep, but she got the black one. ....Is it hot in here?
You may think that I am biased towards Mathews but the funny thing is... I shoot a Hoyt. And at this point don’t think I would shoot anything else.
But bottom line, I think Mathews makes an excellent ladies bow. If your looking for a bow for the woman in your life, or ladys if your looking for yourselvs. I think its a good place to start...
So,.. I guess the next questions are. Will my wife hunt with it?
Will she practice with it?
Does she know what Buck Fever is?
Lets go find out... (I will post it later)
