Glenrose, Texas -

    Big Rock Park

Glen Rose is a town that you can visit and re-visit. Even though it is a small town, there is plenty to do there. Letting your kids play at Big Rock Park is one of them. It’s a place with large boulders that kid’s will love… and maybe dads as well. Just behind the park is a stream that you can play in, I have even seen some people fish in it too. I do have to say I don’t know what they catch other than catfish.

Which there’s no complaints here. I love me some good fried catfish!

The boulders are not so far apart that you can’t jump across imagining you are doing some death-defying feats. Hide and seek is also a good time. The boulders are big enough to run under, through, and around. Right across the street is a RV/tent camp ground that in the summer have a pretty cool swimming pool with fountain in the middle.

Just down the  path if you follow the river on the side walk there is a park kids can play on. Oh and let me tell you, if you want a romantic walk with the wifey, that same path is lit up in the evening and will defiantly get you some brownie points. And every man knows those points are collected in a funnel. If you don’t keep adding them in they will all run out.  LOL…. It’s your woman that decides how big the hole in the funnel is.

If you are in the mood for a snow cone, right next to the park is the Snow Shack. The lady that owns the place is super nice! She also put in a miniature golf place next door. It does look pretty cool but I have not played on it. The snow cones she makes are really pretty good and not overly priced, but beware of the bees they are everywhere. They are not aggressive and actually pretty funny to watch, they will land on your hands just tying to get the sugar.

If a snow cone won't due, you can also head to the town square and get some pie from the Pie Peddlers. The place is ran by some sweet older lady’s and they do make some good ole pies, that aren’t from a box. This town is a timecapsule that holds the past. there is a little something for everyone young and old.

So if you are looking for something different to do with the kiddos, this is a place to go check out.

On another note… I herd a rumor that there is a cross to hike up to that is on (cough) private property. Not saying you can walk across the river on the placed stones to find a path up to it. I didn’t tell you to go under the sign that says private property and follow the path that has blue markings on occasional rocks. I “heard” the blue markings let you know you are headed the correct way. Just saying, others said it’s worth the hike and has a good view of the area.

          So I heard…  Cough…

Here are some pictures of out time there. Hopefully you like them?

Here is a map to the place, yall have fun..!
